The future of Canada’s cleantech industry will be under the spotlight in Calgary as the city hosts Energy Disruptors: UNITE 2024 on October 1 and 2. The event promises to feature some of the country’s top innovators, with additional Calgary-based companies set to showcase their groundbreaking solutions.
“It’s rare to have this kind of diversity of experience and perspective in one room – and it’s absolutely necessary for the kind of collaboration required for successful energy transition,” said Energy Disruptors Co-Founder Graeme Edge.
Earlier in the month, key figures from Calgary’s cleantech sector, including Eavor’s John Redfern, Summit Nanotech’s Amanda Hall, E3 Lithium’s Chris Doornbos, and Carbon Upcycling’s Apoorv Sinha, were highlighted for their participation in the conference. Joining them as keynote speakers this year are several other leaders in the field, including:
- Janice Tran, CEO and Co-Founder of Kanin Energy
- Mark Little, CEO of Jotson
- Ferdinand Hingerl, CTO of Ambyint
- Keaton Horner, Director of Analytics at Orennia
Additionally, the event will feature panelists such as:
- Mina Zarabian, CEO of Carbonova
- Patrick Elliott, COO and Co-Founder of Carbon Alpha
- Dan Balaban, CEO and Co-Founder of Greengate Power
Spotlight on Cleantech Innovations
Kanin Energy, founded in 2020, plays a critical role in helping heavy industries deploy cleantech solutions that convert wasted heat into new revenue streams. Jotson, another prominent player, empowers homeowners by offering insights into their energy use, helping them cut costs and emissions. The company is currently launching its service in Alberta with plans to expand nationwide.
Ambyint, through its AI-powered platform, helps upstream oil and gas operations enhance efficiency and reduce emissions by optimizing production processes. Orennia provides data and predictive analytics to help companies in sectors like solar and hydrogen make informed decisions for energy transition efforts.
Carbonova, a University of Calgary spin-off, is pioneering the conversion of greenhouse gas emissions into carbon nanofibers, which can be used in sustainable products. Meanwhile, Carbon Alpha specializes in carbon capture and storage (CCS), offering regulatory and technical solutions to facilitate CO2 reduction goals. Greengate Power, with over 14 years of experience, remains a leader in renewable energy development, driving the transition to net-zero energy sources.
