
Calgary-based startup WaitWell is transforming the way people wait in line. By enabling customers to join queues through a mobile device or on-site kiosk—and receive real-time text notifications about their wait time—WaitWell is modernizing service delivery and streamlining operations for organizations.
The company was recently selected by the state of Nevada to reduce lineups at its Department of Motor Vehicles. The deal is expected to double WaitWell’s revenue for the fourth consecutive year—a major milestone for the Alberta-born business.

Founded by Albertan power couple Shannon and Steve Vander Meulen, along with co-founder Steve Drew, WaitWell raised $1.5 million in seed funding from Graphite Ventures and Accelerate Fund III in 2023. Soon after the company was named one of our 10 Homegrown Calgary Startups to Watch in 2024.
WaitWell’s momentum hasn’t gone unnoticed. The company was named the A100 One to Watch at the 2023 Start Alberta Tech Awards. Co-founder and CMO Shannon Vander Meulen also received a Woman in Tech award for her leadership and innovation in smart queue management.
