
Calgary-based Benevity has appointed Ian Goldsmith as its first Chief Artificial Intelligence (AI) Officer, marking a major milestone for the corporate social responsibility (CSR) and social impact software industry.
The newly created role underscores Benevity’s commitment to embedding AI across its Enterprise Impact Platform to enhance how companies deliver on purpose initiatives. Goldsmith, a veteran in product and data leadership with over 30 years of experience, will oversee the strategic deployment of machine learning, AI-powered analytics, and generative AI technologies throughout the platform.

Goldsmith will work closely with Benevity’s global network of over 900 corporate clients to design AI-driven solutions aimed at creating stronger links between business goals and societal outcomes.

Prior to joining Benevity, Goldsmith held senior roles at MeridianLink, Waycare, and Akana, where he advanced AI strategies for global brands. He has a track record of integrating responsible AI practices into products, data ecosystems, and user experiences across industries including technology, finance, and transportation. Goldsmith holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Cambridge.
With Goldsmith’s appointment, Benevity aims to lead a new era of AI-powered social impact, setting a benchmark for innovation and responsible deployment in the CSR sector.
