SiteNews asked for construction’s best trailblazers and the industry did not disappoint.
Their inaugural 25 Innovators in Construction Awards cast a wide net over many different fields including tech startups, materials manufacturers, and environmental champions.
The 25 Innovators in Construction is a yearly award recognizing Canada’s top construction companies for their groundbreaking contributions to the industry.
The award celebrates firms excelling in technological innovation, workforce development, sustainability, and collaborative partnerships. The aim is to spotlight companies driving progress and setting new industry standards.
Among the award recipients are two companies that call Calgary home – Carbon Upcycling and PolarBlock.
Carbon Upcycling is a leader in circular decarbonization solutions for hard-to-abate sectors, including cement, steel, and mining. The Calgary-headquartered company recently raised a $34.3 million Series A funding round co-led by BDC Capital’s Climate Tech Fund and Climate Investment.
Cochrane’s PolarBlock has developed an environmentally-friendly concrete form that can be used in place of traditional building materials. Their unique solution allows them to reduce the amount of other building materials, is water and fire resistant, and highly insulated, resulting in structures that are energy efficient with reduced operational costs.
