The finalists for the 2nd annual Alberta Cleantech Awards have been announced.
The awards recognize the best and brightest innovators, industry leaders, investors, and community builders who are driving cleantech innovation and adoption across the province and leading the charge to a more productive, profitable, and competitive net zero economy.
Among the companies nominated in for the Venture of the Year Award are Ayrton Energy, CO2 Brew, Carbon Upcycling Technologies, Litus, and Summit Nanotech. The venture award will be presented to a cleantech venture positioned to take a leadership role on the global innovation stage.
Ayrton Energy and Litus were named to Foresight’s annual list of Canada’s 50 most investible cleantech ventures last year.

Nominated for the Funder of the Year Award are ECO Canada, Prairies Economic Development Canada, Avatar Innovations, and Emissions Reduction Alberta. The funder award goes to a funder, investor, government program, or VC championing a net zero economy by investing in cleantech ventures.
Nominated for the Ecosystem Supporter of the Year award are ECO Canada, Energy Transition Centre, SAIT Green Building Technology Access Centre,Clean Resource Innovation Network (CRIN), and Alberta Ecotrust Foundation.
The ecosystem award goes to an organization championing the growth and development of cleantech in Alberta through the support of climate-focused entrepreneurs, programs, ecosystem development, thought leadership, and community building.
Nominated for the Adopter of the Year award are Explore Edmonton, CPKC, Smart Sustainable Resilient Infrastructure Association, and MAGNA Engineering Services. This award goes to a leading organization, company, or group adopting or championing sustainable practices in their industry.
The Alberta Cleantech Awards take place on May 28 at The Pioneer in Calgary. Register online to attend.
