The51, a venture firm and financial platform dedicated to backing women-led innovation, has appointed Lauren Robinson as Fund Managing Partner to lead the next phase of its venture funds’ growth. Robinson will join General Partners Shelley Kuipers and Judy Fairburn, strengthening the leadership team as The51 scales its investment initiatives.
With two decades of experience in venture capital, capital markets, and early-stage company building, Robinson brings expertise in scaling high-growth startups and expanding access to capital. Her leadership will focus on fund expansion, capital deployment, and investor engagement to drive financial returns.
“Investing in women is an economic opportunity hiding in plain sight,” said Robinson. “The51 is proving that backing women-led innovation delivers results, and I’m excited to help drive this next chapter of financial returns, impact, and scale.”
Robinson previously co-founded Highline Beta’s pre-seed fund and has played a pivotal role in Canada’s early-stage investing landscape. She has served on key industry boards, including the Canadian Venture Capital & Private Equity Association (CVCA), where she chaired the DEI Committee, and the National Angel Capital Organization.
“The51 is reshaping venture capital with a model that delivers both returns and systemic change,” said Kuipers. “Lauren’s leadership and track record in venture investing make her the ideal person to drive our funds’ next phase of growth.”
Fairburn added that Robinson’s disciplined fund management approach would strengthen The51’s existing funds and position the firm for long-term success.
