Rural Alberta is not the ideal setting for getting lost or in trouble alone—yet that is exactly where many Canadians work, particularly in oil and gas industries.
And this is just one example—in North America, there are an average of 6,200 workplace fatalities and more than one million injuries annually.
Field Safe Solutions was founded in Calgary in 2014 to solve for this problem using technology.
“At an average figure per incident of almost $170k, the total economic cost of these incidents is approximately US$200 billion,” the Alberta tech firm notes.
One of Canada’s Top Growing Companies, Field Safe has developed a cloud-based digital health and safety platform with innovation at its core.
“We knew that innovation would drive the evolution of our solution and our company,” stated CEO Cameron Barrett in September. “It’s that innovation that sets us apart.”
Barrett, who joined the company in 2018, is a firm believer in the integration of software technology into managing field and worker safety. According to the executive, Field Safe solutions don’t just protect lives—they also offer smarter workflows to connect workers and save clients time.
For example, Field Safe monitors journeys, tracks tasks, and ensures regulatory compliance—all combining to improve corporate decision making. The company’s software integrates into any software platform such as Apple, Android, and Windows operating systems on smartphones and tablets.
Field Safe believes its solution works for businesses ion any size across a range of industries, from forestry to construction.
The innovative Calgary company was a finalist at the Disruptive Digital Innovator Awards at the 2022 Global Energy Awards earlier this year.
