The Government of Alberta, through Alberta Innovates, is invested $30 million investment in Amii (Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute) to build Alberta’s AI talent pipeline, accelerate research and commercialization and grow the AI ecosystem.
Alberta is already a leader in artificial intelligence. This investment ensures Alberta remains at the forefront of AI.
For over twenty years, Alberta has invested in its artificial intelligence capacity through Amii and the University of Alberta. Since then, AI has become an integral part of daily life and through the advancement of AI research and industry adoption, Amii continues to expand on what is possible.
“Through this funding, Amii will continue to increase the depth of Alberta’s innovation and technology talent pool, accelerate the commercialization of Alberta research and innovation, and build upon Alberta’s position as a global leader in AI innovation and industry deployment,” said Cam Linke, CEO, Amii.
Amii is a non-profit institute that partners with companies across various industries to drive innovative AI solutions while providing practical guidance, advice, corporate training, and talent recruitment services. The institute is recognized as one of Canada’s three centres of AI excellence under the Pan-Canadian AI Strategy.
