Calgary’s Shaw Communications and Rogers Communications are celebrating their recently completed merger valued at $26 billion with a free concert to kick off Calgary’s summer on Thursday, June 1st. The telecoms will hold the concert at the Scotiabank Saddledome and it’s being headlined by Grammy Award-winning country superstar Darius Rucker.
The event marks both a customer appreciation event and a charity fundraiser to benefit the local Big Brothers and Big Sisters organization.
Joining Darius Rucker on stage will be the talented sibling duo The Reklaws and rising country artist Kyle McKearney. The event will be hosted by TV personality and Canada’s Got Talent host, Lindsay Ell.
Rogers and Shaw customers have the exclusive opportunity to attend the concert. Free tickets will be made available on a “first come, first serve” basis with invitations sent via email. Fans and non-Rogers customers can also participate in ticket giveaways through Rogers’ radio and TV stations, retail stores, or by engaging with Rogers Moments.
For every ticket scanned on the day of the concert, Rogers will donate $10 towards Big Brothers Big Sisters of Calgary and Area to support local youth. The telecoms have set a goal to raise over $100,000 for charity with the event.
