6 Calgary Startups To Check Out At Collision Next Week

June 21, 2023 by Robert Lewis Leave a Comment

North America’s fastest-growing tech conference takes place in Toronto next week.

Collision brings together Fortune 500 companies, groundbreaking startups, and world-class speakers under one roof. But at its core, Collision is a startup conference and this year there are over 60 startups from Alberta exhibiting.

The startups that exhibit at Collision are assigned to a category depending on the company size and revenue.

ALPHA startups are in the pre-investment stage or have under $1 million in funding. BETA startups have launched successfully, found a market fit, and are generating revenue. GROWTH startups have raised over $3 million and are experiencing considerable growth and expanding globally.

Here are six startups from Calgary that we’ll be checking out next week at Collision.

GROWTH Startups:

CruxOCM – CruxOCM makes operations control management software that crushes the complexity and inefficiencies associated with standard operations control rooms. In 2021 CruxOCM raised a $7.6 million seed round to fuel its product development and expansion efforts and last week they were awarded the prestigious Silver Stevie Award for Energy Industry Innovation of the Year.

IrisCX – The smart video platform for virtual product selection, DIY setup, and support quintupled its revenue in 2022 and is on track to double its revenue in 2023. Earlier this year IrisCX landed a $6 million seed round from Arthur Ventures with the funds earmarked for product development, investing in go-to-market, and doubling it team size in 2023.

Vivid Theory – Vivid Theory is a venture studio focused on large market opportunities. Specializing in marketplace technology, two-sided SaaS, and PaaS products, Vivid works towards building exciting internally held products for commercialization and sale. Most recently Vivid incubated HeyAuto, Canada’s newest online automobile “ecosystem” for car owners and auto dealers.

BETA Startups:

Goodlawyer – Founded by Brett Colvin in 2019, Goodlawyer is a legaltech startup on a mission to disrupt the traditional method of obtaining legal services. Goodlawyer achieves this by offering a platform that connects clients with lawyers quickly and efficiently at a fraction of firm rates. Last year Goodlawyer was named the ATB Small Business of the Year at the Calgary Chamber of Commerce’s annual awards.

ALPHA Startups:

Included By Design – Founded by Sean Crump, Included by Design uses digital solutions to solve accessibility and inclusion problems that restrict equal opportunities. Included By Design’s mission is to create communities where all people feel comfortable conducting daily tasks, participating in social events and contributing to their economic well-being as though spaces were designed to accommodate all people, regardless of their unique characteristics.

Village Wellth – Village Wellth helps people selling businesses search & connect with pre-qualified buyers (acquisition entrepreneurs) who have direct access to acquisition financing. Village Wellth’s all-in-one acquisition platform is transforming buyer and seller experiences. By connecting business buyers with dealflow, one-click capital, digital tools and guidance they are able to learn, compete and execute on transactions like an acquisition professional.
