In Calgary is a company that’s driving a seismic shift in the way control rooms operate in heavy industries.
CruxOCM is a firm driven by the conviction that control room operators should be equipped with the best tools possible to perform their jobs safely, efficiently, and sustainably.
Founded by industry professionals with first-hand experience in large-scale control rooms, CruxOCM is on a mission to bring the next generation of control room operations to life.
Building on a seed round in 2021, CruxOCM sits at the forefront of what they’ve dubbed the “RIPA Revolution.”
Robotic Industrial Process Automation, or RIPA, is a concept developed by CruxOCM. It involves the simplification of thousands of manual commands typically performed by control room operators into simple automated actions.
RIPA leverages machine learning and physics-based methodologies to enable end-to-end automation, according to the Alberta firm.
And while the benefits of an automated control room are immediately apparent for operators, the impact of CruxOCM’s revolutionary RIPA technology goes far beyond the control room itself.
By reducing opportunities for human error, the technology enhances safety measures and reduces the potential for environmental incidents while creating an auditable command chain that brings accountability to industrial operations.
“We are proud to be at the forefront of driving change and enabling a sustainable future,” stated Adam Marsden, CRO of CruxOCM.
The implementation of CruxOCM’s automation technology leads to efficiencies, including up to a 10% expansion in throughput production capacity, a reduction in power utilization by up to 10%, and improved safety performance and business continuity, according to the Canadian company.
By maximizing efficiency at various points in the oil and gas value chain, companies can save millions of dollars over time. For instance, by automating pipeline pressure and flow variations, maintenance costs can be reduced and the lifespan of the pipelines can be extended.
CruxOCM was this month awarded the “Silver Stevie Award for Energy Industry Innovation of the Year” at the 21st Annual American Business Awards. The Award recognizes CruxOCM’s achievements in delivering groundbreaking solutions that revolutionize the energy landscape.
“We are thrilled to receive the Silver Stevie Award for Energy Industry Innovation of the Year,” said Marsden. “This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team in developing innovative energy solutions that make a positive impact on the industry.”
CruxOCM is one of several Alberta startups heading to Toronto for Collision this month.
