We have already mentioned how an advanced humanoid robot will be both attendee and exhibition at this year’s INVENTURE$, which each May brings together industry leaders, angel investors, and venture capitalists under one roof in Calgary.
Last year, with a theme of “Innovation Overdrive,” a record 3,000 participants spurred “our most successful event yet,” according to Laura Kilcrease.
Kilcrease, who serves as chief executive of Alberta Innovates, will engage with humanoid robot Ameca (developed by UK’s Engineered Arts) in a fireside chat on INVENTURE$ main stage.
But Ameca’s hotly anticipated fireside chat is just one session among “Three unforgettable days of smashing the status quo.”
Indeed, there are at least 150 sessions and panels in total, including the keynote “Igniting Innovation: Creative Thinking in the Age of AI,” which tackles the complex intersection of machine intelligence and human creativity and is presented by David Usher, Moist frontman and founder of Reimagine AI, which launched the same year as INVENTURE$ (2018).
There’s also Dr. Poppy Crum, an eminent neuroscientist who will be taking the main stage on Friday, May 31 to deliver a keynote address called “The Intersection of Humanity and Technology.”
Big questions will arise at Inventures, such as: What if ideas, innovation, and inventions come from our understanding of culture? What if you could leverage culture to help you advance your ideas?
University of Michigan marketing professor Dr. Marcus Collins believes he has the answers to these kinds of questions, and he will present a keynote on the event’s Wednesday.
Dr. Collins asserts that same mechanisms of culture that sway our consumption also inform organizational behaviour and societal dynamics. This creates an opportunity for leaders to leverage the power of culture to inform their inventions and establish an organizational culture for constant idea generation, the award-winning marketing professional believes.
“Our collective understanding of culture presents unique opportunities,” agrees Kilcrease. “Dr. Marcus Collins brings a unique perspective that will launch Inventures 2024 and set the tone for the conference. Join me in Calgary, May 29-31, 2024 and prepare to be energized, inspired, and ready to do business.”
This year, Alberta Innovates forecasts 4,000 attendees from more than 30 countries will attend INVENTURE$.
Tickets are $749 or $99 for students.
