In a significant branding overhaul, Calgary Economic Development revealed its “Blue Sky City” initiative during the 2024 Report to the Community.
This fresh identity symbolizes Calgary’s commitment to innovation, merging diverse cultures, ideas, and peoples under one visionary outlook.
The rebranding effort, which involved 129 organizations across 26 sectors, reflects extensive community feedback calling for a more inclusive representation of Calgary’s sunny disposition—Canada’s sunniest city with 333 days of sunshine annually.
“We know Calgary is an incredible place to call home. We consistently get top ranks for livability, affordability and quality of life, but we haven’t been able to clearly articulate this story to ourselves or people outside our city,” said Brad Parry, President and CEO, Calgary Economic Development and CEO, Opportunity Calgary Investment Fund.
“It’s time to tell our own story or continue having others tell it for us. A strong, authentic and aspirational brand supports long-term growth and will align us around a shared vision for the future.”
In addition to the branding initiative, Calgary Economic Development’s recent achievements include generating $734 million in investments and creating numerous job opportunities. This is just the beginning of Calgary’s transformation into a globally recognized hub of opportunity and creativity.
