Over fifty-four hours, strangers will become friends—and founders.
June 21st through 23rd will see Techstars Startup Weekend descend on Calgary for a collaboration-focused hackathon that promotes “teamwork and turning ideas into action.”
“Whether you are a serial entrepreneur or new to the startup scene, you’ll fit right in as long as you are motivated to build a product or startup and are open to new ideas,” say organizers online. “The event is intended to be a collaborative and inclusive forum for sharing, learning, building, and having fun.”
On day one, participants will meet fellow innovators and form teams. On day two, teams work with experts to build businesses with as little as a laptop.
By day three, teams are ready (or not) to pitch and demo their weekend-old startups before a panel of judges.
“You’ll make new connections, find mentors, or maybe even meet your future business partner,” organizers offer. “It’s like a crash course where you learn by doing, with seasoned pros showing you the ropes.”
The focus of this year’s Techstars Startup Weekend is on innovative technologies that work toward a sustainable environment.
The Calgary edition is powered by Platform Calgary.
Other upcoming tech events include INVENTURE$ in May, which Alberta Innovates anticipates will see 4,000 attendees from more than 30 countries.
