Calgary-based eMission Software has launched the Production Emission Intensity Report (PEIR), a new standardized emissions reporting tool designed for interest holders in Canada’s energy sector.
Unlike existing reports that focus solely on individual companies, PEIR offers both relative and absolute emissions analysis across the entire industry.
The report, which leverages self-reported data, zeroes in on emissions generated during hydrocarbon production. Key performance indicators include tonnes of CO2e per barrel of oil equivalent (BOE), compliance with federal and provincial regulations, and percentile intensity rankings.
To provide deeper insight, PEIR incorporates eMission’s proprietary decarbonization indices. Among them is the Ease of Decarbonization Index, which factors in operational realities such as facility count, accessibility, and grid tie-in options—offering a clear view of the cost and complexity of decarbonization efforts.
According to eMission, the PEIR benefits both sides of the investment equation. High-efficiency producers gain visibility into their operational strengths and may be rewarded with better financial terms, while interest holders can reduce uncertainty, verify compliance, and assess regulatory risk.
Built on eMission’s robust software platform, PEIR aggregates vast amounts of public data to ensure transparency and accuracy. The tool can be used for facility-level analysis or broader corporate-level assessments. Custom reports are also available for interest holders seeking insight across investment portfolios or exposure to future policy changes.
With environmental, social, and governance (ESG) scrutiny on the rise, eMission says PEIR is positioned to ease the reporting burden on financial institutions and regulators by replacing opaque self-disclosures with standardized, verifiable emissions data.
