Calgary-based HooperIQ has been named to the 2025 cohort of the Future of Sport Lab (FSL), Canada’s leading SportsTech accelerator, joining a lineup of 10 high-potential startups set to shape the future of athletic performance, fan engagement, and athlete wellness.
Founded by pro basketball player Marek Klassen, HooperIQ is the first AI-powered basketball IQ training platform, designed to help athletes improve decision-making through personalized quizzes, film breakdowns, and automated game analysis.
The Calgary venture will now receive tailored support through FSL’s intensive incubator program, including mentorship from sport industry leaders, access to academic and corporate partners, and the opportunity to pitch to top Canadian investors.
This year’s cohort features startups from across North America and spans a wide range of technologies, including smart wearables, mental health platforms, and coaching tools. Other Canadian participants include CoachThem, co-founded by former NHL players Mike Weaver and Robb Tallas; Elev8 & Perform, which leverages quantum biomaterials for recovery; and Iron Lady Golf, a community-driven platform for women in golf.
Founded in 2015 and delivered in partnership with the DMZ, the Future of Sport Lab has helped its alumni raise more than $100 million in funding. This milestone 10th-year cohort reinforces FSL’s national impact and commitment to supporting athlete-led entrepreneurship and breakthrough technologies.
“Canada has such a passionate and innovative sport tech community,” said Dr. Cheri Bradish, FSL’s Founder and Managing Director. “We’re excited to work with this inspiring group of founders and continue shaping the future of sport both in Canada and globally.”
For HooperIQ and its fellow cohort members, the path ahead includes months of development, mentorship, and collaboration—culminating in a final pitch to leading investors as they aim to take their innovations to the next level.
