Rambody Empowers Trainers and Coaches, Encourages Exercise

September 28, 2023 by Knowlton Thomas Leave a Comment

Alberta may not possess quite as robust a fit-tech startup ecosystem as gym-crazed British Columbia does, but that does not mean the region is without its own.

A startup based in Calgary is applying emerging technology to innovate the field of fitness in a way that aims to benefit both personal trainers and their clients.

Rambody deploys an AI-infused digital assistant to empower trainers toward delivering more efficient service across more clients.

“Using Rambody, our trainers have witnessed considerable growth in their online training business—up to 50% in the first three months,” the company states on its website. “Rambody sets you free from the basic time-for-dollar business model in which many trainers are stuck.”

The Alberta company points out that more than three-quarters of North Americans—nearly 300 million people—do not perform enough physical exercise.

A personal trainer helps educate people about how and why to exercise and also keeps them more accountable, Rambody says—but the high hourly cost of private coaching is a major point of friction for many would-be exercisers.

The coronavirus pandemic lockdowns introduced people to online personal training and at-home workouts, which are more accessible than in-person, at-gym coaching. That’s where the startup is positioned.

Rambody embraces the business model of online training and optimizes the experience for trainers and clients—enabling coaches to reach more clients online and manage them better.

Features include profiles containing body analysis data and nutrition information, custom workouts and exercises, and a personalized website for your brand.

The Rambody platform is currently free, though the company says it may charge for additional features they plan to launch later.

“Our main objective is universal and widespread use of online tools for the fitness industry,” the startup says. “After all, the future is online.”

So far, Rambody has amassed more than 60,000 users. Personal trainers have used Rambody to generate a combined $3 million in revenue via selling fitness plans through the platform.

Initially conceived in 2019, Rambody was this year selected for the inaugural batch of the Alberta Accelerator program.
