A range of companies based in Alberta were recently recognized for excellence in cultivating corporate culture.
Waterstone Human Capital this month unveiled the 2023 edition of its annual Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Cultures program, which recognizes best-in-class Canadian organizations and executives fostering high-performance cultures that facilitate a competitive advantage.
“The 2023 Canada’s Most Admired award recipients exemplify how culture drives performance, especially in the face of economic uncertainty and other recruitment and retention challenges,” says Marty Parker, CEO of Waterstone and Chair of the Canada’s Most Admired program.
“This year’s winners are leveraging culture to drive growth and success in today’s highly competitive talent market through the acquisition, retention, and optimization of high-performance leaders, teams, and corporate cultures,” he added.
Award winners are recognized in five categories including Enterprise, Mid-Market, Growth, Emerging, and the Non-Profit and Broader Public Sector. And new for 2023, Waterstone Human Capital launched the Canada’s Most Admired CPCO Awards, which spotlights corporate culture executives across Canada who drive the talent strategy of their organizations to achieve growth.
“This year’s winning leaders and organizations actively craft culture in alignment with their purpose and values every day, and help drive culture as competitive advantage,” continued Parker.
Let’s explore some local winners.
Canada’s Most Admired Enterprise CEO of 2023 is Curtis Stange, who serves as chief executive officer of Edmonton’s ATB Financial. His company this year unveiled a $50 million fund targeting small and mid-market enterprises in Alberta.
Among the most admired cultures at enterprise scale is Canadian Western Bank Financial Group, also out of Edmonton.
And even more from The Oil Capital of Canada: Health-tech firm Inline Group boasts one of the nation’s most admired corporate cultures (Growth), as does NorQuest College (Nonprofit and Public Sector).
An array of Calgary-based firms also make the list.
PurposeMed—already noted by LinkedIn as an ideal place to work—ranks among the “Emerging” category of admirable company cultures.
The Emerging category also recognizes the sterling cultures of Kudos, an employee engagement platform founded in 2010, and innovation-centric call centre SureCall.
Finally, a Calgary-born personal assistant for homeowners called Rümi ranked in the Mid-Market category.
