An organization based out of Edmonton is working to raise capital for ag-tech startups in Alberta.
Founded in 2019 to empower entrepreneurs across Western Canada, Startup TNT is this winter hosting the 2024 Agri-Food Investment Summit.
Like other TNT Investment Summits, the event aims to help raise capital for startups and make it easier for local investors, both seasoned and new, to angel investing.
Angels can invest as little as $5,000 into startups, according to the event website, while the TNT Capital VC Fund Co-Invests $50,000 into every Summit winner.
All deals are syndicated by Startup TNT through an LP for a single line on one’s cap table and simpler investor relations, the organization states.
Last year, at the inaugural Agri-Food Summit, nine winners received an average of more than $200,000 in investment capital
Startups can apply for the Summit until January 15, with Summit-related events ongoing through March.
Startup TNT has held over two dozen Summits, attracting more than 300 investors. Nearly 100 companies have received a total of almost $12M in capital.
Startup TNT recently invested in Calgary-based Arolytics, which earlier this year secured $400,000 in funding from the Government of Canada through Sustainable Development Technology Canada.
Other Summits hosted by the organization include themes of Cleantech and Life Sciences.
