Calgary Economic Development and the Government of Alberta have launched Level Up, a free program helping Alberta businesses expand internationally and diversify beyond their existing markets.
Funded by the province and delivered by Calgary Economic Development, the initiative combines online learning, expert-led workshops and individual mentorship. It builds on the Trade Accelerator Program (TAP), adding market-specific guidance and sector expertise to help companies execute their international growth plans.
Calgary’s ZeroKey illustrates the potential for local technology companies. Founder and CEO Matthew Lowe credits TAP with helping the indoor location technology company reach customers in Europe and Asia.
“Today, our technology runs on factory floors in more than 40 countries,” Lowe said.
The launch comes as businesses seek to reduce dependence on individual markets. CED says companies supported by its trade services secured 45 deals worth $60 million across 21 countries in 2025, with its lowest recorded share of deals in the United States.
Level Up is open to businesses across all sectors and brings trade resources from multiple organizations together on one platform.
