Calgary’s Splice N Connect is developing technology to give power-system operators better visibility into a small but consequential part of their infrastructure: cable splices and terminations.
Its system combines non-invasive sensors with software that monitors connection conditions and looks for signs of deterioration. The goal is to help operators plan maintenance before a failing connection causes an unplanned outage.
Founder and CEO Taban Sabih is an electrical engineer whose experience includes roles at Cenovus Energy and Husky Energy. The company emerged from Avatar Studio in 2023.
Splice N Connect says its clamp-on sensors are designed for installation on existing infrastructure without taking it offline. Its analytics track changes over time to support decisions about when and where maintenance is needed.
Potential markets extend from distribution utilities to industrial facilities, renewable energy operators and data centres, all of which depend on reliable electrical connections.
Calgary.tech reported the final close of the company’s $1.75-million pre-seed round in April. Backers included Avatar Leadership Fund, Phoenix Fire, Valhalla Private Capital, Startup TNT and private investors.
The financing was intended to support product development, field testing, pilots and commercialization. For Splice N Connect, the opportunity is to turn cable-condition data into earlier warnings and better-informed maintenance decisions.
Splice N Connect is among Platform Calgary’s 2026 Launch Party Top 10. Launch Party, presented by Float, takes place November 5 at the Platform Innovation Centre.
