A new data centre infrastructure company led by former CoolIT Systems CEO Steve Walton plans to open a Calgary facility as part of an international expansion.
3C has merged with London-based Datalec Precision Installations to form 3C Datalec, combining liquid-cooling expertise with engineering, manufacturing, installation and facilities management services for AI data centres.
The combined company plans to open facilities in Calgary, Austin and Warsaw over the next 12 months, supported by new investment from Calgary-based Longbow Capital alongside S2G Investments, Apogem Capital and QIC.
The announcement brings together two Calgary connections: local investment backing and Walton’s experience leading Calgary-headquartered CoolIT Systems, a specialist in liquid cooling for high-performance computing and data centres.
As AI workloads increase computing density and cooling requirements, 3C Datalec aims to help operators integrate cooling, power, construction and ongoing operations through a single provider.
“Rack densities have outgrown air, and liquid cooling is no longer optional,” said Walton, CEO of 3C Datalec.
The combined business has approximately 1,000 team members and forecasts more than US$400 million in revenue for 2026. It says it works with four of the five largest hyperscalers and more than 25 colocation providers, with active projects in 16 countries.
Founded in 2012, Datalec will retain its London headquarters, while its founding leadership team will continue in executive roles within the enlarged group.
Financial terms of the merger were not disclosed.
