MaxLab.io Combines Advanced AI with Hardware Expertise to Launch High-Tech Camera

March 15, 2023 by Knowlton Thomas Leave a Comment

A Western Canadian company is innovating the hardware space with specially designed technology.

For example, there is the MaxLab Energy Monitor, which connects to up to 12 circuits simultaneously to deliver real-time energy usage to a mobile app via wifi and bluetooth.

The company has also developed a solar-powered and waterproof camera that is ideal for monitoring roofs in all conditions or remote areas. Armoured with UV-resistant plastic for year-round durability, the camera can sustain on a single battery charge for up to nine months before recharging itself with an onboard solar panel.

“We are a turnkey product design company with a strong focus on in-house hardware and software development,” the company, with offices in Edmonton and Vancouver, says. “We design, develop, manufacture, and deliver your devices while you can focus on the essential part of your business—the product itself.”

The latest hardware innovation from MaxLab.io is a camera module boosted by artificial intelligence and open-source technology. The camera’s computer vision enables a variety of features including people counting, gesture detection, and smart condition monitoring, according to a statement from the company.

The AI camera has many use cases—MaxLab cites wildlife monitoring, agriculture detection, and robotics integration potential, among other possibilities—and thus it is a product the company is looking to commercialize.

The Alberta-headquartered startup plans to crowdfund capital through CrowdSupply this spring before selling a finalized device later this year.

MaxLab.io was founded in 2020 by Vancouver’s Max Olender and Rost Kurylo and Edmonton-based Constantine Malynin.

The trio was long destined for a career in tech—”While still studying at university, we already worked for tech companies and at the same time, started doing our own projects before graduating from school,” the founders recall.

What they have in common “is a drive to make an impact, move things forward, and try something new, so we started working together on various projects that led to the creation of maxlab.io.”

The company delivers full product design and development, from research to prototyping to testing and manufacturing—the goal being to create a “functional and reliable product that meets the needs and expectations of customers while also being cost-effective to produce and distribute.”

The founders believe MaxLab’s personal advantage, allowing it to achieve this goal, is their expertise in hardware.

“Hardware competency is what makes us stand out,” the startup states.
