The province of Alberta has signalled strength once again with a robust presence in an annual ranking of Canada’s fast-growing companies.
The Globe & Mail’s 2023 Ranking Canada’s Fast-Growing Companies lists 11 companies based in Edmonton and 25 companies based in Calgary.
“These 425 businesses—with anywhere from three employees to 9,000—represent a vast array of products and services, from anti-chafing shorts to perinatal health care to private equity financing,” G&M states, “But they all have one thing in common: staggering three-year growth rates.”
As Edmonton’s fastest growing company, electronics repair business Dr. Phone Fix makes its first appearance on the list with an impressive rookie ranking of 10th nationwide, posting three-year revenue growth north of 3,000%.
Growing Edmonton firms in the tech wheelhouse include the capital-laden Jobber (128th), fintech upstart Trust Science (20th), and sales software provider OneSoft Solutions (269th).
Calgary’s fastest-growing company is Saturn Oil & Gas, founded back in 2001 and now enjoying revenue growth of nearly 2,000%.
Tech firms on the list will be recognized by regular readers of Calgary.tech as they include well-funded Symend (34th) and award-winning Goodlawyer (35th), as well as digital assistance startup Virtual Gurus (91st) and event ticket innovator Showpass (192nd).
Consumer Genius, another startup Calgary.tech reported on earlier this year, also made the list.
Launched in 2019, the fifth annual Report on Business ranking of Canada’s Top Growing Companies ranks participating private and public Canadian businesses by three-year revenue growth.
