Your financial data tells a story—but not if it’s gathered and analyzed through piecemeal and patchwork solutions, says a Canadian technology startup.
Halifax-born huumans is aiming to help businesses understand their data through smart accounting.
The bookkeeping-as-a-service platform encourages all businesses to migrate toward digital accounting solutions for a variety of reasons.
“While paper can feel simpler for some, it carries the risk of storage, security, and loss,” huumans states online. “And with a whole industry building groundbreaking bookkeeping products, it might be that you’re missing out on some great insights into your business—never mind the endless efficiencies than can be gained from instant calculations and hyper-accurate tax submissions.”
Founded in 2021, huumans is today based in Alberta and helps clients move to a modern set up “without disrupting the processes you’re most comfortable with.”
The Calgary-headquartered fintech offers to migrate paper books to Xero or Quickbooks Online free of charge, with no software to learn—”just someone you can talk to whenever you need to about your business.”
Over time, the AI-powered platform introduces you to better processes and tools to make books more accurate, and you can choose how and when to adopt each suggestion.
As implied by its name, huumans promises an “extremely collaborative” approach to modern accounting.
“Access an ecosystem of services that starts with exceptional bookkeeping and builds to create a simple, clear source of truth, unlocking even greater opportunities for your business,” the company says, offering a “range of essential services that help you put best practices in place, keep your books balanced, stay on top of taxes and make the most of your incredibly accurate data.”
And on top of including all standard bookkeeping features, books are triple-checked by humans for errors or suspicious activity.
“Your business has many moving parts and assessing your financial health is more complex that checking your bank balance each morning,” huumans says. “We manually check each transaction, receipt, invoice, and refund.”
Moreover, unlimited support is included in every huumans accounting plan.
“We don’t just promise—we guarantee that most questions will be answered in one business day,” the startup states.
Huumans was recently named as one of Calgary’s 10 most promising startups ahead of Innovation Week’s signature event, Launch Party powered by Platform Calgary.
The top 10 companies are nominated by the Calgary innovation community and selected by a committee of Launch Party alumni. To be selected, companies must be in operation for less than three years, be revenue positive, and demonstrate potential for growth.
Launch Party will be hosted at the The Big Four Roadhouse on November 23.
