Growing Logistics Innovator Ziing Continues Expansion with Latest Strategic Acquisition

March 7, 2024 by Knowlton Thomas Leave a Comment

A last-mile delivery solutions startup applying tech-forward innovation to the logistics industry today announced its second acquisition in six months.

Calgary-based delivery solutions firm Ziing revealed this week the acquisition of Metroland Parcel Services—a transaction the Alberta company described as “part of a strategic initiative to expand its final mile network coverage and enhance its national Co-Load Ecosystem offering.”

“I am thrilled to announce that . . . Ziing has completed the acquisition of Metroland Parcel Services, a move that significantly enhances our Co-load Ecosystem in Eastern Canada,” stated Chris Higham, chief executive officer of Ziing.

Founded in 2020 as a division of the TorStar Group, Ontario’s MPS provides overnight small package delivery and final mile distribution services to local and international clients.

“Bringing MPS into the Ziing ecosystem gives our staff and clients something to be very excited about,” believes Mike Banville, Head of Metroland Parcel Services.

“I am beyond excited for our teams to grow together and produce offerings like our clients have never seen before in this space,” Banville continued.

The acquisition “marks a major milestone” in Ziing’s growth and expansion plans for North America, according to a statement from the Canadian upstart.

“This acquisition represents a key milestone in our growth strategy and will allow us to expand our offerings, leverage ziing.ai and provide an improved experience for our clients,” Higham said.

Higham asserts that by bringing these two companies together it will create significant value for stakeholders while enabling better faster and more cost-effective shipping solutions for customers.

Existing MPS clients will now benefit from Ziing’s suite of technology, including the artificial intelligence powered platform ziing.ai, he says.

Moving forward, Metroland Parcel Services will operate under Ziing Final Mile Inc. and join Ziing Fulfillment and Ziing Energy as part of the Ziing Group of Companies.

Since 2018, Ziing’s mission has been to help companies gain improved visibility into shipments while building brand loyalty with an enhanced shipping experience.
