Five female finalists have been selected for Innovate Calgary’s Women Founders in Tech Pitch Competition.
The program, culminating April 30, is designed to honour women in technology and offer them support.
One finalist is Purvaja Soochit, CEO of Binoloop, which aims to improve organizational decision-making with an AI-driven evaluation platform.
“Designed to automate and streamline the assessment of documents and videos, our tool significantly reduces manual processing, eliminates bias, and enhances efficiency,” reads a statement from Soochit’s startup. “Our unique approach combines data-driven insights with advanced AI technology, positioning us at the forefront of the decision intelligence market.”
Another finalist is Rebecca Ung, Founder of Kumu Corporation, a materials innovation company focused on using bio-products from food, plants, and minerals to make single-use plastic alternatives.
“Our patent-pending process covers these sustainable bioproducts and how to recycle them,” the company says.
Claire Dixon, chief executive of Neuraura, is also a finalist.
Dixon’s Neuraura is a bio-electronic medical device company with a current focus on the treatment of symptoms related to Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, a common and overlooked hormonal condition affecting up to 18% of women.
Through proprietary technology developed at the University of Calgary, Neuraura aims to offer the first effective and accessible solution for PCOS.
Another finalist is Daniella Jasper, founder of The BRDGE, which is described as a “dynamic online platform that connects food enthusiasts with an array of local and international food vendors, offering authentic culinary experiences from across the globe.”
The BRDGE caters to individuals and organizations alike, says Jasper, to change how home-style cooking is accessed and enjoyed for every meal and occasion.
And last but not least is finalist Ling Bai, chief executive of Virtual Leader Energy.
Founded in 2014, VL Energy is pushing to commercialize its AI-based emissions monitoring software that helps companies meet environmental regulations, improve work safety, reduce emissions, and optimize operations.
Innovate Calgary’s Women Founders in Tech event represents collaboration between Prairies Economic Development Canada, the Calgary Innovation Coalition, the University of Calgary Alumni, futurpreneur, the Calgary Catholic Immigration Society, and Shory Law.
