Slew of Calgary Tech Firms Rank Among Canada’s Fastest Growing Companies

September 27, 2024 by Knowlton Thomas Leave a Comment

Calgary’s Neo Financial claimed top spot in Report on Business magazine’s annual ranking of Canada’s Top Growing Companies for 2024 thanks to three-year revenue growth of 38,000%.

It’s the sixth annual edition of the list, which spans all sectors across the whole country to find firms with one thing in common: a “penchant for sustained growth.”

And Neo is not the only local innovator to make the list. Indeed, Alberta made a strong showing this year, with several companies earning a spot, including some tech firms we have covered here on Calgary.tech.

Goodlaywer

Goodlaywer, which was Calgary’s small business of the year in 2022, ranked 15th with three-year revenue growth north of 2,400%.

Founded in 2019 by Brett Colvin, Goodlawyer is a legal-tech startup on a mission to disrupt the traditional method of obtaining legal services.

Showpass

Showpass, an event ticketing platform, ranked 39th with growth of 1,000%.

The firm opened a a new tech hub in Calgary this year, which later helped local wildfire refugees.

Nanoprecise

Edmonton’s Nanoprecise, recently recognized as a technological innovator by the Global Energy Show Canada Awards at Calgary’s newly expanded BMO Centre in Stampede Park, provides industrial machine monitors to reduce downtime and CO2 emissions.

Growing nearly 1,000%, the Alberta company ranked 44th.

Trust Science

Also out of Edmonton, Trust Science uses artificial intelligence to enhance the credit scoring process.

Trust Science ranked 94th with a three-year revenue growth of 444%.

Virtual Gurus

After losing her oil and gas job in 2015, Bobbie Racette pivoted and one year later founded Virtual Gurus, an online talent-as-a-service platform which pairs remote assistants with a wide variety of businesses based on machine learning and human expertise.

Growing over 367% over three years, Virtual Gurus earned 111th spot this year.

Blackline Safety

Founded in 2004, Blackline Safety provides specialized wearable devices in more than 100 countries.

Ranking 252nd, Blackline saw three-year growth of 161%.
