The nomination deadline for the annual Cleantech Awards approaches.
The 2025 Cleantech Awards are set to spotlight exceptional companies and individuals advancing innovation, economic leadership, and technology adoption across Canada’s cleantech sector.
This year, there are regional awards for British Columbia, Alberta, and Atlantic Canada, with nominations open for each region through February 20th. For Alberta, whose cleantech ambitions are rising, it’s the province’s third annual rendition.
Award nominees will be honoured at in-person celebrations starting with Vancouver in March, then Halifax in April, and concluding with Calgary in May. The Calgary event is slated for May 21.
To cover the full spectrum of contributors to the ecosystem, the 2025 Cleantech Awards are broken down into distinct categories as follows Venture of the Year (Startup); Venture of the Year (Scaleup); Adopter of the Year; Cleantech Supporter of the Year; and Funder of the Year.
In 2024, the Cleantech Awards Startup of the Year was Litus, who since launching in 2019 has developed nanotechnology that harvests lithium directly from aqueous sources with minimal disruption to the environment.
Adopter of the Year was MAGNA Engineering, while Funder of the Year went to Prairies Economic Development Canada. Ecosystem Supporter of the Year was ECO Canada.
In 2023, Venture of the Year was Future Fields, an Edmonton-based bio-tech startup. Emissions Reduction Alberta, Energy Futures Lab, Enhance Energy , and Westgen Technologies cofounder Ben Klepacki also earned accolades.
The annual Cleantech Awards are powered by Foresight Canada.
