Edmonton-based IronSight, a rising leader in digital field logistics, has been acquired by global energy logistics giant Kabal. The deal marks a major step toward unifying onshore and offshore operations for energy companies worldwide. No financial details were disclosed.
Announced today, the acquisition combines IronSight’s agile, user-friendly platform for onshore logistics with Kabal’s established offshore expertise to create the industry’s first fully integrated logistics solution — delivering end-to-end visibility, control, and efficiency for operators across the energy value chain.
Founded in 2018 by former Alberta oilfield operators Shawn Martens and Adam Jessome, IronSight was built to simplify field logistics through a modern SaaS platform. After raising funding rounds led by ARC Financial in 2021 and 2022, IronSight quickly gained traction among North American energy producers and service companies.
The company’s platform has become a trusted tool for managing production, maintenance, operations, and completions. By joining forces with Kabal, headquartered in Stavanger, Norway, IronSight aims to expand its reach and impact, streamlining complex logistics on a global scale.
IronSight has also been recognized for its innovation, earning a spot among Darcy Partners’ top innovators in oil and gas production in both 2022 and 2023 and being named by Calgary.tech as one of Alberta’s Startups to Watch in 2023.
“IronSight was founded to make logistics simple, collaborative, and efficient,” said Martens, CEO of IronSight. “Joining forces with Kabal allows us to scale our mission faster, reach new markets, and redefine energy logistics globally.”
The unified platform arrives at a time when energy companies are increasingly seeking ways to cut costs, reduce risk, and boost sustainability across their operations. By integrating onshore and offshore logistics into a single platform, Kabal and IronSight aim to simplify how critical resources are planned, moved, and managed across the entire energy value chain.
“Our mission at Kabal has always been to streamline logistics for the energy sector, an industry where logistics is a major cost driver,” said Jan Inge Pedersen, CEO of Kabal. “IronSight has built a platform that is simple, scalable, and highly effective. Together, we’re setting a new standard for energy logistics — giving operators unprecedented control over every aspect of their supply chain.”
With the acquisition, IronSight will operate as part of Kabal, strengthening the foundation for safer, more sustainable, and more efficient logistics operations worldwide.
