Founded in 2017 by two former vac truck operators working in the oil fields of Alberta, Shawn Marten and Adam Jessome saw a need in the marketplace and jumped in. The entrepreneurs built a SaaS tech platform for producers and energy companies.
With funding from ARC Financial, IronSight raised money through funding rounds including in late 2022 and are putting the capital to good use: hiring talent in Calgary and Edmonton.
They began to scale up to enter the U.S. market and by the time Calgary.tech could name IronSight a Top 10 Homegrown Startup to watch this year, their tech was already deployed to every major basin in North America.
Today the Alberta company was awarded another accolade. IronSight was recognized as an innovator in oil and gas production for 2022 by Darcy Partners, a member-driven technology and innovation market intelligence firm serving the energy industry.
IronSight was noted for its product optimization technology and was selected based on activity from intelligence platform Darcy Connect as well as operator interest and overall market traction, according to a statement from the company.
“IronSight aims to connect supply and demand in the energy sector through its user-friendly service scheduling, resource coordination, and digital field data documentation platform,” says Jessome, who serves as vice president of product. “Its ability to capture, visualize, and provide operational insights make it a valuable tool for decision-making at all levels of our client’s operations.”
IronSight’s SaaS offering digitalizes field data capture to create more transparent, informed, and agile operations, he explains. Deployed through both a web and mobile app, IronSight bridges the gap left by traditional solutions by taking a field-first approach to digital data capture.
“IronSight eliminates the need for guesswork by helping to determine the most productive, safe, and sustainable deployment of people, equipment, and processes,” Jessome adds.
By facilitating field data capture in real-time and integrating with existing systems, coordination of logistics and optimization of operations becomes effortless for both operators and service providers, the company believes.
The IronSight platform creates administrative efficiencies while displaying data to benchmark and improve performance—to date, IronSight is achieving annual cost savings “in the six and seven figures for some of the biggest energy producers in Canada and the US.”
Darcy Partners was established in Houston, Texas in 2015.
