Google Canada is partnering with Platform Calgary to provide Calgary founders, entrepreneurs, and business builders with free access to practical artificial intelligence training.
Through the partnership, Platform Calgary will distribute Grow with Google scholarships for the new Google AI Professional Certificate, removing the regular cost of the online program. The scholarships are available beyond Platform Calgary’s existing membership and are intended for local founders, professionals, and small business owners interested in applying AI to their work.
“We’re not just adapting; we’re building the foundation for Calgary to lead the global AI economy,” said Jen Lussier, CEO of Platform Calgary.
Created by Google experts, the certificate includes seven courses covering AI fundamentals, brainstorming and planning, research, communications, content creation, data analysis, and app development through no-code “vibe coding.”
Participants complete more than 20 hands-on activities while gaining experience with tools such as Gemini, NotebookLM, Google AI Studio, and AI features within Google Workspace. No previous AI experience is required, and the seven-course program can be completed at the participant’s own pace.
Platform Calgary says the partnership addresses a common obstacle facing early-stage founders and small teams: finding the time and budget to learn how to use emerging tools effectively.
Along with immediately applicable skills, graduates receive a Google certificate they can share with employers, investors, and professional networks.
“This partnership reflects a collective effort to expand access to world-class AI tools, practical resources and opportunities that will help local companies build, scale and compete globally,” Lussier said.
