Calgary firm aims to support hydrogen, lithium, and renewable fuel ventures with technical expertise and flexible pricing.
Calgary-based company ASCENT, has launched a new initiative to help scale clean energy ventures in Western Canada. Their Emerging Energy Program is designed to support startups and established firms working in hydrogen, lithium, renewable fuels, carbon capture, and advanced energy technologies.
Founded in 1994, ASCENT has built a strong reputation in Alberta’s oil and gas sector, delivering over 3,500 engineering and design projects across the region. Now, the company is applying its three decades of technical and project management experience to the rapidly evolving clean energy economy.
“ASCENT’s goal is to be a partner in building the next generation of energy solutions,” the company stated in a release. “We bring not only engineering expertise, but a deep understanding of regulatory processes, operational challenges, and industry expectations.”
The Emerging Energy Program offers a wide range of services—from feasibility studies and site selection to detailed engineering and design, 3D laser scanning, and construction support. ASCENT’s in-house team includes specialists in process, mechanical, civil, electrical, pipeline, and instrumentation engineering.
To make the program accessible to early-stage companies, ASCENT has introduced flexible financial models. These include hourly retainers, monthly subscriptions, fixed-fee contracts, equity-based partnerships, and deferred payment options aligned with startup funding milestones.
The company is already supporting DAC and Lithium projects in addition to its traditional projects including gas plants, oil terminals, and brownfield retrofits. Its portfolio also includes over 1200 km of pipeline design and implementation of digital twin technology in more than two dozen facilities.
ASCENT is headquartered in Calgary and operates throughout Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, the Northwest Territories, and Nunavut. The company is COR certified, registered with ComplyWorks and ISNetworld, and is a member of the Gas Processing Association of Canada.
Alongside its work in traditional and emerging energy, ASCENT also funds scholarships at local institutions including the University of Calgary, Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, and STEM Innovation Academy, supporting the next generation of engineers and energy innovators.
