AbaData Acquires HUDU Pipelines to Expand Global Energy Tech Reach

September 23, 2025 by Newsdesk Leave a Comment

Calgary-based AbaData, a platform specializing in surface land mapping, integrated field operations, and AI-driven decision-making for the energy sector, has acquired HUDU Pipelines, a provider of pipeline integrity and field operations software.

The deal strengthens AbaData’s platform by adding HUDU’s expertise in pipeline risk management, mobile data capture, and automated regulatory workflows—capabilities that will enhance AbaData’s existing offerings and accelerate its push into U.S. and global markets.

“HUDU represents a powerful addition to our platform,” said Jason Toews, CEO of AbaData. “With their expertise in pipeline integrity management and our strength in mapping, field operations, and artificial intelligence, we are delivering the most advanced, proactive solutions in energy technology.”

As part of the acquisition, Jeremy Rushton, President of HUDU, will join AbaData’s leadership team to help drive integration and growth. “By joining forces with AbaData, we can bring HUDU’s innovative pipeline integrity solutions to a broader customer base,” Rushton said. “Together, we’ll drive digital transformation for the industry both locally and globally.”

The acquisition marks AbaData’s third in less than two years, following its purchase of opLYNX in 2024 and TRIAGE Pipeline Integrity in 2023. These strategic moves are positioning AbaData as one of the most comprehensive technology partners in the energy sector, with offerings spanning from land mapping to pipeline risk management.

HUDU’s specialized platform features real-time mobile data capture, automated regulatory workflows, and customizable modules. Integrating these tools into AbaData’s platform will allow customers to streamline operations, ensure compliance, and unlock new efficiencies.

With one of the largest development teams in Canadian energy tech, AbaData continues to focus on artificial intelligence and machine learning as drivers of predictive and proactive operations. The company says its expanded platform will help energy firms transition from reactive problem-solving to data-driven decision-making.
