Calgary’s tech and social impact communities are coming together this month to help nonprofits and charities harness the power of data and technology for good.
On October 23, Platform Calgary will host Tech, Data & Funding: Hands-On Empowerment for Nonprofits & Charities at its East Annex, offering a day of practical learning, round-table discussions, and networking designed to help mission-driven organizations work smarter in a digital-first world.
Nonprofits are often stretched thin—balancing ambitious goals with limited resources. This event, organizers say, is built to change that dynamic. Through hands-on sessions, attendees will learn how to make data and technology work for their mission, not against it.
The speaker lineup features leading voices at the intersection of innovation and community impact, including:
- Geoff Couldrey, Chief Transformation Officer at United Way, on building digital capacity in social-sector organizations;
- Geoff Zakaib, Founder of Data for Good YYC, on using data to make better decisions;
- Ashley Reutlinger, Owner of Edge Dynamics, on maximizing Google Ads to boost visibility and engagement;
- Alex Jackson, Founder of Experience Innovation, on applying AI to secure funding;
- Laura Grant, Co-Director of Alberta Bike Swap and Founder of Women in Tech Unite, sharing real-world lessons in sustaining nonprofits through technology.
Following the presentations, participants will join interactive round-table sessions where they can apply new insights directly to their own organizations, guided by speakers and volunteer experts.
The day also promises ample networking opportunities, connecting nonprofit leaders with data professionals and fellow changemakers across Alberta.
