Calgary-based Wagepoint is broadening its payroll platform with the launch of built-in Timesheets and a new employee mobile experience, My Wagepoint, as the company continues evolving from payroll software into a more complete workforce management solution for small businesses.
The new Timesheets feature allows employees and contractors to submit hours directly inside Wagepoint, removing the need for spreadsheets or third-party time tracking tools before running payroll. Once approved, hours flow automatically into pay runs — reducing manual steps for business owners, accountants, and bookkeepers.
The company also introduced My Wagepoint, a next-generation mobile app that lets workers submit time entries, access pay stubs, and update personal information from their phones. The mobile-first approach targets service businesses and distributed teams where employees rarely sit at a desk but still need reliable access to payroll information.
“These are the first of several product launches planned this year as we continue building a platform that brings payroll, time, and people together in one place,” said Jenna Poste, Vice President of Product at Wagepoint.
The expansion reflects a broader shift in small-business software toward unified operational platforms. Rather than handling payroll as a standalone task, companies increasingly want HR, time tracking, and pay managed within a single system — reducing administrative overhead and compliance risk.
That need is especially pronounced in Canada, where provincial overtime rules, statutory holidays, and remittance requirements create added complexity for small employers. Wagepoint’s Timesheets automatically applies overtime rates based on local regulations to help businesses stay compliant.
Founded in Calgary in 2012, Wagepoint now supports more than 30,000 Canadian small businesses and 1,800 accountants and bookkeepers. The platform automates pay runs and CRA remittances and integrates with accounting software including QuickBooks Online, Xero, and FreshBooks.
The latest product rollout signals continued product expansion from one of Calgary’s established fintech companies as it works to deepen its role in the daily operations of small businesses across the country.
