On March 18th Calgary’s innovation community has a unique opportunity to hear directly from The Honourable Evan Solomon, Canada’s Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation, at Canada’s AI Future: A Conversation with The Honourable Evan Solomon.
Hosted at the Platform Innovation Centre, the lunchtime event brings together founders, investors, operators, researchers, and ecosystem leaders to discuss the direction of Canada’s national AI strategy and what it means for tech startups and venture building across the country.
As AI reshapes how companies scale and governments approach innovation policy, this conversation aims to align public policy with capital formation and entrepreneurial ambitions — with a particular focus on how Calgary and Canada can remain competitive on the global stage.
Solomon, appointed as Canada’s first-ever Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation in 2025, has spearheaded federal efforts to position Canada as a leader in responsible, sovereign, and high-impact AI innovation. His role reflects the government’s increasing focus on ensuring AI not only drives economic growth but also delivers trusted, inclusive outcomes for all Canadians.
In recent public engagements, Solomon and innovation leaders have emphasized themes likely to surface in the Calgary talk — including attracting and retaining top AI talent, building Canadian compute and data infrastructure, enabling better access to capital, and balancing innovation with public trust and ethical governance.
The event includes opening remarks from Jen Lussier, interim CEO of Platform Calgary, followed by a keynote and fireside chat with Solomon, then wraps with a networking session for attendees.
For Calgary’s founders and ecosystem partners, this is a chance to engage with federal AI leadership at a moment when public policy and startup ambition are converging — and when Canada’s role in the global AI economy remains at a pivotal juncture.
