North Vector Dynamics Lands NordSpace Investment to Advance Canadian Defence Technology

July 30, 2026 by Newsdesk Leave a Comment

Calgary-based North Vector Dynamics has secured a strategic investment from NordSpace Ventures to accelerate its work in autonomous defence systems, advanced propulsion and hypersonic technologies.

The amount of the investment was not disclosed.

North Vector Dynamics was named one of Calgary.tech’s 10 Homegrown Calgary Startups to Watch in 2026, recognized for developing Canadian technology designed to address emerging aerial threats.

The new investment adds momentum to that mission while deepening an existing technical partnership between North Vector Dynamics and NordSpace, a Canadian aerospace and defence company developing launch vehicles, satellites and supporting infrastructure.

Led by CEO Paul Ziadé, North Vector Dynamics specializes in precision interception, autonomous systems and advanced propulsion. The company was co-founded by aerospace engineers from the University of Calgary’s Schulich School of Engineering and has assembled a team with experience spanning academia, NASA and the Canadian Armed Forces.

Its portfolio includes systems designed to counter uncrewed aerial vehicles and simulate aerial targets, with a longer-term development roadmap extending into hypersonic technology.

North Vector Dynamics is also participating in a $4.2-million contract with Defence Research and Development Canada to advance high-speed and hypersonic aeropropulsion technologies for Canada and its allies.

Beyond providing capital, the investment will give North Vector Dynamics access to NordSpace’s propulsion, manufacturing and testing infrastructure. NordSpace said technology developed for its Canadian-made orbital launch vehicles could also support North Vector Dynamics’ defence roadmap.

The companies are already members of the Hypersonic Innovation Network, a university-led research consortium supported through the Department of National Defence’s Innovation for Defence Excellence and Security program in partnership with Defence Research and Development Canada.

The network is intended to strengthen Canadian expertise across propulsion, flight dynamics, navigation, detection and advanced materials. Its work supports broader federal priorities around NORAD modernization and Canada’s Defence Industrial Strategy.

“North Vector Dynamics is exactly the kind of company Canada needs more of,” NordSpace founder and CEO Rahul Goel said in the announcement, pointing to the startup’s Canadian ownership, domestic technology and independence from U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations.

Ziadé said bringing NordSpace aboard as both an investor and technical partner would help the companies move more quickly where their development plans overlap, including defence propulsion and hypersonics.

North Vector Dynamics joins Edmonton hyperspectral-imaging company Wyvern in the NordSpace Ventures portfolio. The investment arm focuses on Canadian-owned space, defence and dual-use companies that can contribute to a domestically controlled aerospace and national-security ecosystem.

For North Vector Dynamics, the backing strengthens its position within Canada’s emerging defence-technology sector while keeping the development, ownership and scaling of its technology at home.
