A Calgary Kal Tire store is the first location to deploy PitPro Automation’s production tire-changing system, bringing robotics into the service bay ahead of winter.
San Francisco-based PitPro announced the installation September 23, marking its first Canadian deployment and a move beyond pilots following its June 2025 unveiling.
Designed for Class 3 and smaller vehicles, the system occupies a single service bay. PitPro says two coordinated gantries work across all four wheel positions, completing a full tire swap in under 15 minutes.
For Kal Tire, the technology could help manage seasonal demand while reducing the physical burden on technicians.
“Tire service is physically demanding work, and Canadian winters create intense demand spikes,” said Kenneth Chaun, Kal Tire’s senior vice-president of strategy and innovation.
Chaun said automating repetitive lifting would allow technicians to spend more time on diagnostics and customer service. If the system meets expectations in-store, it could help Kal Tire increase capacity within its existing space.
PitPro plans to install additional systems at other customer sites this fall, making Calgary the starting point for its production rollout.
