Calgary startup Agrivanna is tackling a practical challenge in livestock management: getting useful information recorded while ranchers are busy doing the work.
Its software lets producers speak notes about animals, treatments and herd movements, then review the resulting entries before adding them to their records. The platform is designed to work without cellular coverage and synchronize when a connection becomes available.
That focus on field conditions extends to pasture management. Agrivanna’s tools combine mapping, satellite information and rotation planning to help producers organize grazing and keep track of their land alongside their livestock.
The company’s co-founders are CEO Amirhossein Foroughi, CTO Aminreza Abbasi and COO Haden Harrison, bringing together software, hardware and ranch operations expertise.
Calgary.tech previously highlighted Agrivanna ahead of the University of Calgary’s Start Something Summit, where it represented the Hunter Hub’s Launchpad program. The company subsequently reported winning the Launchpad stream and its $10,000 prize.
Agrivanna’s broader development plans include smart collars and virtual fencing. Its current website identifies virtual fencing as research and development, with today’s pasture maps and grazing plans intended to support that future capability.
For now, its pitch starts with making everyday ranch records easier to capture and use.
Agrivanna is among Platform Calgary’s 2026 Launch Party Top 10. Launch Party, presented by Float, takes place November 5 at the Platform Innovation Centre.
