ResVR Finds Success at the Intersection of Videogames and Homebuilding in Calgary

November 18, 2024 by Knowlton Thomas Leave a Comment

Calgary’s humming tech scene will take centre stage this week as the much-anticipated Launch Party of Innovation Week YYC brings together the city’s most promising tech startups.

Those startups, hand-selected by Calgary.tech partner Platform Calgary, will have the opportunity to pitch to an audience of investors and potential partners.

That list of companies includes ResVR, a property technology startup that enables homebuilders and developers to sell more upgrades through a videogame-like visualization platform.

Survey data has suggested a need for homebuilding sales visualization software—for example, 87% of new home buyers would opt for changes to their homes with better visuals available to them.

“Our solution boosts and simplifies the selection and upselling process,” the startup states. “With ResVR, builders can increase efficiency, enrich homeowner experiences, and drive growth.”

Founded in 2023, ResVR earlier this year raised a seed round of financing led by Inverted Ventures and Weave VC, with participation from Bluesky Equity, InRoad Ventures, ThresholdImpact, Startup TNT, and Canadian angels.

The startup recently won the pitch competition at the 2024 Inventures Conference among 1,000 applicants.

ResVR has also completed programs at Alberta Catalyzer, 500 Global, Plug and Play, and Creative Destruction Lab.

The mastermind behind ResVR is Nathan Nasseri, whose experience in both homebuilding and video game design places his expertise in a unique domain.

“ResVR empowers builders and buyers, which leads to happier customers who are more satisfied with their decisions because they were able to visualize them and make more thoughtful choices,” said Nasseri this year. “The homebuilding industry is overdue for a shift towards digital transformation, and ResVR is here to make that happen.”
