Calgary Tech Anchor Absorbs Toronto’s Together on Mission to Foster ‘Culture of Learning’

December 12, 2024 by Knowlton Thomas Leave a Comment

Calgary-based learning technology company Absorb announced this week the acquisition of Toronto’s Together, which develops mentorship software.

Historically, mentoring platforms and learning management systems have been siloed, according to Absorb, which now claims to be “the first learning technology provider to bring mentoring and coaching into its ecosystem with the goal of delivering a truly collaborative learning solution for our customers.”

“This transformative acquisition positions us as the first learning technology provider to integrate mentoring into its product ecosystem, advancing our vision of Strategic Learning Systems and laying the foundation for a unified approach to learning,” stated Absorb chief Kimberly Williams.

“Most importantly, it will empower our customers to create deeper learning experiences, engage and inspire their learners, and drive meaningful productivity gains and measurable business impact,” the CEO continued.

The “strategic learning systems” that Williams references from the backbone of Absorb’s platform. They also reflect the firm’s philosophy that intentional and organized learning approaches can directly addresses business challenges and contribute to success.

A strategic learning system can monitor, measure, and visualize the impact of learning, potentially redefining how enterprises approach workforce development, according to Williams.

“We’re confident that this approach to learning will elevate individual growth and boost key HR and L&D metrics, delivering a true culture of learning,” the CEO stated.

Together is described as a “perfect addition” to Absorb’s suite of tools.

“Together and Absorb share a common vision,” explains Together chief Matthew Reeves, which is “enabling people and organizations to thrive through continuous learning.”

“This partnership brings mentorship and learning closer together, creating opportunities for deeper engagement and impactful growth for our customers and their employees,” stated Reeves.

For Together and Absorb customers, nothing will change as of yet, the companies promise.

Together will continue to operate as a standalone solution for now, according to a statement from the firm. In the future, teams will look at integrations.

Absorb was established in 2002.
