Flinks and Oliu Announce Collaboration to Upgrade Digital Verification in Canada

January 16, 2024 by Knowlton Thomas Leave a Comment

ATB Financial today announced a new cross-country fintech partnership.

The partnership between ATB Ventures’ digital ID verification solution Oliu and Montreal-born Flinks, a provider of financial data connectivity, will see the two platforms integrate features to enable a “frictionless digital ID verification using bank connectivity,” according to a statement released by the firms.

“The partnership between Oliu and Flinks will deliver another leap forward in removing friction from customer onboarding and enhancing security using digital ID verification,” explains Azim Esmail, who serves as head of growth for ATB Ventures.

Leveraging Flinks’ direct API bank connections network, organizations using the blockchain-powered Oliu will be able to instantly verify customers’ identities using their existing Canadian bank accounts in compliance with Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada identity verification guidelines.

“Oliu equips organizations within financial services and across multiple other sectors with a powerful platform to mitigate fraudulent activities, and expedite account creation increasing customer retention and loyalty,” Esmail says.

The integration allows organizations to pre-populate registration forms and streamline Know Your Customer processes, eliminating the need for manual identity verification and enabling swift and secure onboarding.

“This collaboration embodies Flinks’ commitment to enabling businesses to leverage financial data to deliver exceptional digital experiences,” stated Frederick Lavoie, a cofounder of Flinks. “By partnering with Oliu and enabling digital ID verification, we can unlock advanced levels of security and efficiency for our customers while setting new and robust standards in the industry.”

According to the Digital ID and Authentication Council of Canada, the trusted digital identity market in Canada holds a significant value estimated at $15 billion, representing approximately one percent of the country’s GDP.

Flinks recently partnered with Xero, while Oliu recently integrated with Calgary’s PayTrie.
