A Calgary company focused on carbon capture and reuse technology is poised to work with the world’s best-known consumer auto brand.
Rain Cage Carbon unveiled this week a collaboration with Toyota Tsusho Canada, part of Japan’s Toyota Group.
Under the agreement, Rain Cage Carbon will leverage its proprietary EDENTM Carbon Capture and Reuse System to supply Toyota with Advanced Carbon products, according to a statement from the Alberta-based firm.
These materials will contribute to Toyota’s next generation of electric vehicles, plug-in hybrids, hybrids, and hydrogen vehicles.
“Our relationship with Rain Cage Carbon was formed to help Toyota Tsusho Canada further our vision of a sustainable future, where advanced technology and responsible resource management converge,” said Grant Town, president of Toyota Tsusho Canada.
There are already plans in place to expand the scope of the collaboration to additional markets and applications over the coming years, according to Blair Aiken, chief executive of Rain Cage.
“Working with Grant and Toyota Tsusho Canada over the past eighteen months has fostered a collaboration to harness our common aspirations for both global societal benefits and cutting-edge business innovation,” he said.
Aiken’s company is in the business of converting carbon dioxide emissions “into some of the most valuable, and expensive, materials in the world today.”
Rain Cage achieves this conversion through a process which Aiken has described as “revolutionary.”
“Five hundred thousand years ago, the discovery of fire changed civilization forever,” Aiken said last year. “Now, Rain Cage Carbon has taken another historic leap as we explore innovative new mechanisms to protect the environment from harmful emissions.”
Rain Cage was founded by Aiken alongside Mark Fertman, Debbie Maguire, and Gerard Campeau in 2022.
Gerard Campeau says
I’ve seen it truly revolutionary !
