Anchors and Engines Among Alberta’s Top Employers in 2025

January 30, 2025 by Knowlton Thomas Leave a Comment

An annual list of Alberta’s Top Employers has been revealed.

The 2025 edition of the list recognized 85 companies based in the province.

The list, assembled by Canada’s Top 100 Employers, evaluates organizations based on eight factors: Community involvement, Employee communications, Benefits, Performance management, Upskilling, Time off, Social atmosphere, and the physical Workplace.

Among the entities ranked are provincial support engines Alberta Innovates and InnoTech Alberta, who each made the list for the fourth year in a row.

“I’m very fortunate to be able to work with some of the smartest and most committed folks at Alberta Innovates and InnoTech Alberta,” commented Mike Mahon, who serves Alberta Innovates as chief executive officer.

“We have a highly skilled, competent, and incredibly strong workforce,” he continued. “I’m proud of our employees and the hard work they do every day, building, administering, educating, and promoting the province’s innovation strategy.”

Things that set Alberta Innovates apart from other organizations, according to Mahon, include the “Choose How U Work” program for flexibility as well as a parental leave top-up program, which allows mothers to receive a top-up for up to 16 weeks and fathers to receive a top-up for a maximum of eight weeks.

Other regional entities on the Top Employers list include digital learning provider Absorb Software, a tech anchor since 2002, and systems integrator Convergint Technologies.

Forward-thinking Northern Alberta Institute of Technology and innovation-friendly University of Calgary also made the list.
