Foresight Canada Launches Earth Tech: Adapt to Boost Alberta’s Climate Resilience

March 5, 2025 by Newsdesk Leave a Comment

Foresight Canada has introduced Earth Tech: Adapt, a nine-month accelerator program aimed at expediting the development of climate adaptation technologies across sectors vital to Alberta, including agriculture, forestry, infrastructure, energy, and water management.

Alberta has been experiencing significant climate-related challenges. The province has faced severe droughts impacting agricultural productivity, as well as devastating wildfires that have threatened communities and natural resources. These events underscore the urgent need for effective climate adaptation strategies.

Earth Tech: Adapt seeks to address these challenges by offering Alberta-based cleantech ventures expert mentorship, industry partnerships, and fundraising support. The program focuses on scaling high-impact solutions in areas such as wildfire mitigation, flood prevention, and grid resilience. By fostering commercialization and adoption, Earth Tech: Adapt aims to strengthen Alberta’s economic and environmental resilience in an increasingly climate-affected world.

Calgary, in particular, has been recognized as a burgeoning hub for cleantech innovation. The city was recently ranked among the top global cleantech ecosystems, reflecting its commitment to sustainable technologies and the energy transition. This positions Calgary-based startups to significantly benefit from programs like Earth Tech: Adapt, further solidifying the city’s role in driving climate adaptation solutions.

“Climate adaptation is no longer a future concern—it’s a present necessity,” said Brittany Goldhawke, Director of Earth Tech and Investor Relations at Foresight Canada. “Earth Tech: Adapt is bridging the gap between innovation and impact, ensuring the solutions we need to build resilient communities and industries are developed, scaled, and adopted today.”

Cleantech ventures in Alberta are encouraged to apply for Earth Tech: Adapt to contribute to a more resilient and sustainable future for the province.
