Qube Technologies Gains U.S. EPA Approval for Continuous Methane Monitoring

March 17, 2025 by Newsdesk Leave a Comment

Qube Technologies, a Calgary-based emissions monitoring firm, has received U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) approval for its continuous point-source methane monitoring system.

This designation, granted under the NSPS OOOO regulations, allows oil and gas operators to use Qube’s technology as an alternative test method, improving regulatory compliance, reducing costs, and enhancing environmental performance through real-time emissions tracking.

Traditional compliance methods rely on periodic inspections, capturing emissions data at set intervals. Qube’s continuous monitoring system revolutionizes this process by delivering 24/7 methane tracking, enabling operators to detect, quantify, and mitigate leaks in real time.

“This EPA approval validates our technology’s role in advancing emissions monitoring,” said Alex MacGregor, CEO of Qube Technologies. “Continuous monitoring equips operators with real-time data, helping them respond quickly to leaks, enhance compliance, and improve environmental performance.”

Qube’s platform combines calibrated sensors and physics-based data modeling to monitor methane emissions continuously. Using the Periodic Screening method, the system collects data over a seven-day period, calculates an average emission rate, and compares it to regulatory thresholds. If emissions exceed the limit, follow-up inspections help identify and resolve leaks, ensuring operators stay compliant while benefiting from real-time insights and proactive leak management.

With EPA approval, Qube Technologies is positioned to help oil and gas operators across the U.S. streamline compliance and minimize emissions, reinforcing its role as a leader in next-generation environmental monitoring.
