Questor Technology has garnered funding from the National Research Council of Canada.
The Calgary-based organization, which trades on the TSX-V as QST, secured $1.9M through Sustainable Development Technology Canada to complete development and launch commercialization of a 1500kW Rankine Cycle Heat-to-Power Generation System.
Questor is an environmental emissions reduction company focused on clean air technologies that support energy efficiency.
The Canadian company designs, manufactures, and services clean combustion systems that destroy harmful pollutants such as Methane, Hydrogen Sulfide gas, and Volatile Organic Hydrocarbons.
The Alberta firm is also increasingly known for its proprietary waste-heat-to-power generation technology.
The NRC grant for this cleantech arrives at a pivotal moment, according to a statement from Questor, as global operators face mounting pressure to abate methane emissions, retire open flares, and generate on-site power without adding carbon.
Questor’s forthcoming 1500kW system converts both high- and low-temperature waste heat into electricity that can be consumed on-site or exported to the grid, and is engineered as the natural companion to the company’s Q-Series Thermal Oxidizers.
Q–Series technology collects waste gas through a patented natural draw design which has no fans, blowers, or moving parts and is capable of accepting multiple gas streams.
Together, the integrated package delivers near-zero methane and GHG emissions paired with a quantifiable revenue stream from avoided power purchases, according to a statement from Questor, turning what was once a regulatory cost centre into a margin-positive asset.
As jurisdictions worldwide adopt zero-routine-flaring deadlines, demand for ISO-certified clean combustion with integrated power recovery is moving from pilot scale to portfolio scale, the Alberta company believes.
Questor expects to complete testing of the 1500kW prototype in the second quarter of this year, followed by commercial rollout by the end of 2026.
Since its founding in the 90’s, Questor has completed over 1,000 projects across more than two dozen countries of operation.
Shares in QST are up 16% over the past year.
