Calgary-based Fillip has partnered with TELUS to launch a next-generation fleet management solution designed to modernize how Canadian businesses manage fuel, vehicle performance, and expenses.
The collaboration integrates Fillip’s Visa-powered digital payment platform with TELUS’ Connected Fleet, Telematics & Asset solutions—bringing together real-time vehicle insights with flexible, mobile-first fuel payments.
Fillip was named one of 10 homegrown Calgary startups to watch in 2023 after winning the top prize of $250K at the inaugural Calgary Fintech Awards in 2022.
“This modernizes fleet management,” said Alice Reimer, CEO of Fillip Fleet. “We’re delivering real-time expense tracking, customizable spending limits, and streamlined processes for fuel and maintenance—all in one platform.”
The combined offering addresses a massive market: Canada’s 2.8 million fleet vehicles generate $53 billion annually, with 80% of that tied to fuel.³ Fillip’s universal fleet card is accepted at over 11,000 fueling stations across the country, and its app-based approach makes it easy for drivers to pay using their phones, while enabling managers to control and track spending in real time.
As the exclusive telecommunications partner for Fillip, TELUS is the first to market with this integrated solution. Businesses using the system can expect up to 10 hours saved per month on bookkeeping and annual cost reductions of 5–10%, according to TELUS.
“This solution is about solving real-world challenges with smart, secure technology,” said Heather Tulk, President of Commercial and Public Sector at TELUS. “We’re transforming how fleets operate—so our customers can save time, reduce spend, and improve control.”
Fraud prevention is another key benefit. By linking vehicle GPS data from TELUS with Fillip’s payment platform, the system can flag suspicious transactions and optimize routing for fuel efficiency.
TELUS’ connected vehicle tools offer businesses real-time insight into maintenance, driver safety, and vehicle performance. Combined with Fillip’s smart fuel management features—like automated odometer readings and detailed transaction logs—the partnership gives fleet operators a powerful, data-driven edge.
The joint solution is now available across Canada, delivering increased visibility, cost control, and operational efficiency for a wide range of industries with vehicle fleets.
