The Disruptive Digital Innovator Award at the Global Energy Show Canada celebrates the most innovative and impactful digital technologies in the energy sector. It’s a key category in the awards program central to the annual conference being held in Calgary from June 10 to 12.
Open to companies with technologies that are less than five years old, this award recognizes solutions that have the potential to reshape industry norms, improve operational efficiency, and create a more sustainable energy ecosystem.
Calgary-based companies have claimed victory in the category the past two years. Last year, PrePad won for its cloud-based software solution that enhances engineering efficiency in drilling and completions for shale oil and gas operators. In 2023, Galatea Technologies took home the prize for its platform to digitalize, optimize, and automate transportation workflows for clients to maximize their operational, financial, and environmental performance.
Both companies have credited the award with being a significant catalyst to their growth, helping them gain visibility, attract new customers, and secure investment. They also have been named to past Calgary.tech annual homegrown startups to watch lists.
“Winning the Disruptive Digital Innovator Award was a proud moment for us,” says Sean Hervo, CEO of PrePad. “The recognition amplified our mission to bring capital confidence to operators across North America and opened doors to new clients who see the value in optimizing well designs and development plans before putting capital at risk. It also reflects the effort our team has put into building a category-defining software platform for the energy tech space.”
Similarly, Chad Hayden, CEO of Galatea, notes, “The event brings people from all over the world to Calgary to learn about and share cutting-edge innovation. The exposure and credibility associated with the award helped us grow our client base and attract partners from across North America. It was really a testament to the hard work our team put into developing a platform that digitizes, optimizes, and automates transportation workflows.”
This year, four Calgary companies are vying for the award, each with unique technologies that could transform the energy industry.
RevSolz is transforming hydraulic fracturing operations with FracSol, a platform that combines real-time monitoring, intelligent analytics, and automation, making global operations more efficient, cost-effective, and sustainable.
Ambyint is leading methane mitigation efforts with its AI-driven anomaly detection and autonomous control systems. The company’s technology optimizes plunger lift wells, enhancing production while reducing methane emissions.
ZeroSound is tackling industrial noise pollution with its active noise control systems, which suppress noise in targeted areas and provide real-time monitoring for clients. The company helps industries reduce their noise footprint and improve operational efficiency.
TOSSA Sustainability Services has developed an innovative web-based decision-support tool to assist organizations in assessing and enhancing their sustainability efforts. This tool focuses on sustainability and ESG assessments across industries, including energy.
For the finalists this year, winning the Disruptive Digital Innovator Award could be just as impactful as it was for the past winners. Recognition in this category provides not only a credibility boost but also opens doors to new business opportunities, increased funding, and greater visibility.
As Calgary’s energy tech ecosystem continues to grow, it’s clear the award is a valued one for emerging companies to showcase their disruptive technologies.
